Hey! What are some of your Tamil or Malayalam faves in recent times that you recommend?

hmmm well if you follow midukki‘s “Malluwood newcomer” formula, it goes something like this: Bangalore Days → Ohm Shaanti Oshaana → Usthad Hotel → Thattathin Marayathu → Drishyam → (If you haven’t watched any of those movies).

But between 2014-2015 my favorites include:

Tamil:

1. Thegidi (underrated actors + mystery)
   
2. Vaayai Moodi Pesavum (surprisingly liked it better than the Malayalam version)
3. Arima Nambi (fell in love with Vikram Prabhu and fell more in love with Priya Anand)
4. Vella Illa Pattathari (Is it possible to love Dhanush even more? And try to battle your weird Amala Paul obsession?)
5. Thirumanam Enum Nikkah (only because of Nazriya)
6. Jigarthanda (the cinematography just…)
7. Madras (surprisingly loved this and Karthi + Catherine had great chemistry)
8. Naan Sigappu Manithan (Lakshmi Menon’s hair made this film)
   
9. Kaaviya Thalaivan (can be boring or interesting depending on your taste for historical films)
10. Yennai Arindhaal (especially the first half)

Or check out this list because I definitely haven’t watched as many Tamil movies as other bloggers. 

*And I’m looking forward to OK Kanmani (no explanation needed), Vai Raja Vai (because Gautham+Priya), and Uttama Villain.

Malayalam:

THIS LIST of 2014 films: Everything is flawless on there!

Films from 2015 that have gotten decent reviews/looking forward to watching include: 

1. Mili (I have a few thoughts on this film but more on that later, and it recently released on DVD so I’m waiting to post a link with English subtitles because I know a lot of followers wanted to watch this)
2. Picket 43 (Prithviraj. That is all)
3. 100 Days of Love (The film that everyone keeps confusing with OK Kanmani)
4. Ennum Eppozhum (Because Manju Warrier that’s what)
5. Oru Vadakkan Selfie (I NEED TO WATCH THIS!)
6. Bhaskar the Rascal (seems more of the commercial genre, but I couldn’t help but crack up after watching the promos/trailers)
