Music Recommendations

Hey! I don’t really have one favorite soundtrack, but instead I love multiple soundtracks that I believe will never grow old. Also, what makes a soundtrack my favorite is when most/all the songs in it are good. I grew up listening to Tamil music, and later on startedimage listening to Malayalam and Telugu songs so I’ll break it down for you.

I grew up listening to a lot of Yuvan so he will always be my most favorite music director and his music makes me happy so it serves the purpose. When I was young I remember I really loved the songs from April Maadhathil (the movie is really good as well) and Manmadhan. But I thought the songs from Pudhupettai were composed really well and those songs portray his expertise in all genres so you must definitely give that soundtrack is definitely a listen! I thought that the Chennai 600028 soundtrack was really fun to listen to and really any of the Venkat Prabhu-Yuvan collaborations. I also LOVED the Sarvam, Theeratha Villayaitu Pillai, and Paiyya songs. I think the Billa and Billa II songs are classics and I loved all the songs from Aarambam as well.

I have to say I am a huge fan of A.R. Rahman, but I will warn you anything before Minsaru Kanavu is kind of old for me, so I will start there. J I grew up listening to Minsaru Kanavu and Alaipayuthey, but I don’t listen to those songs frequently. When I think of A.R. Rahman right now, soundtracks I love are Boys, Sillunu Oru Kadhal, I, Maryan, Kadal, and Vinnaithandi Varuvaya. If you like period films I suggest you listen to Kaaviya Thalaivan. I would also highly recommend Mani Ratnam-A.R. Rahman collaborated soundtracks (the OK Kanmani songs are coming out tomorrow!!!! TOO EXCITED) and Rajnikanth-A.R. Rahman collaborations.

I am also a huge fan all the Gautham Menon-Harris Jayaraj collaborated soundtracks and I would love to specify out of those, the Vaaranam Aayiram, Kaakha Kaakha, and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyadu soundtracks. I also loved Unnaale Unnaale, Ko, Thuppakki, Ayan, and Dhaam Dhoom. (I’m sure there are many more that I’m missing here)

So now to the new music directors, I’m a big fan of Anirudh and Santhosh Narayan.

Anirudh comes out with a bunch of hip and cool music and I like that vibe in tamil music. My favorite of his is Moonu (3), and I will always love that one! (Defintely listen to his others though, he is a wonderful human being and has great talent.) Santhosh narayan also comes out with crazy good stuff! My favorite of his are Attakathi, Pizza, Jigarthanda (background score as well) ;), and Madras. He truly has composed awesome melodies and instrumentals that are good especially when you need music for studying. J

Now for Malayalam, my love definitely goes to the soundtrack AND background score for Bangalore Days. Shaan Rahman and Gopi Sundar are my favorite Malayalam Music Directors. My Shaan Rahman favorites are Thattathin Mayathu and Om Shanthi Oshaana. My Gopi Sundar favorites are Anwar and Ustad Hotel (and of course Blore Days). I also like Deepak Dev’s Puthiya Mukham.

Finally for Telugu, I love Thaman’s music so currently I love the music from Race Gurram and Dookudu. I also like the songs from Orange. There are more Telugu songs I like, but I can’t categorize them as my favorite soundtrack.

Sorry for this long post again, but I hope you like these songs well!
