I just really want tamil cinema to have at least one dark skinned heroine. Ya know, to be a little realistic.

Yeah, I think there’s alot of people around here wanting the same thing. I thought we were making process when directors began introducting dark skinned heroines (like Amala Paul or Lakshmi Menon) but clearly that didn’t work out because somehow all these actresses “became lighter” after their debut movies. I guess it’s just the face that majority of actresses in kollywood are light skinned and the few dark skinned actresses don’t feel like the fit in. Or maybe it’s just the face that the audience is so used to seeing light skinned actresses for all these years and forgot the means of reality. None the less I really hope there’s more space for dark skinned actresses in this industry because they are the real portrayal of reality within Tamil Nadu.
