I wrote a really long completed answer to this but I’m not used to Windows 10 yet so I accidentally closed the window… oops. Here I go again :P
Anyway you’ve probably seen most of these :P
- Thaandavam: one of my most fav action movies but Vikram/Anushka’s characters get arranged married but the two decide to get to know each other, become friends, fall in love and then live as a couple :) Such a great relationship
- Sillinu Oru Kaadhal: Surya/Jyo’s characters look grouchy on their wedding day (there’s a great song here though) especially Jyo who wanted to fall in love first. Fast forward a few years… and they’re completely in love, and with a daughter. Then previous love throws a wrench in all of this (I haven’t watched the full movie in a while but I know it all ends well :) )
- Kalyana Samayal Saadham: okay this is similar because it’s “behind the scenes” of the steps between bride-seeing and married life, our couple fall in love after getting engaged. There’s kind of a random plot here but it’s a similar idea
- Moonu & Mayyakam Enna: okay so I reblogged a post earlier talking about why aren’t there movies that explore love after marriage (as in, yay they got together, now what) so here love marriages of Ram/Janani and Karthik/Yamini are tested through Dhanush’s character’s issues. Not my most favourite films but for this topic, they make sense
- Panaiyarum Padminiyum: love after many years of marriage. Yes it’s about a man and his car but also ultimately a man and a woman and their marriage (there’s a sweet song in this movie too). Very adorably awkward relationship even after many years :)
- Kadhalil Sothupavathu Eppadi: ok technically this is a Siddharth/Amala rom-com (one of my favourite movies) but it is contrasted with an older couple (kinda like OK Kanmani) except they’re getting divorced after many years of a love marriage… so a different take on the love after marriage concept. (If you love this try Balaji Mohan’s other movie ft. Dulquer/Nazriya, there’s a second marriage here but this shows falling in maternal/daughter love with your father’s second wife… which is interesting to see)
and Google says Mouna Ragam is the same theme (falling in love after arranged marriage after a previous relationship) but I haven’t seen it :P
